Frequently Asked Questions...
I live within the attendance boundaries of the Groveport Madison School District, but I have/will have graduated from Cruiser Academy/ Eastland Career Center/ Fairfield Career Center. Am I eligible to apply for the Education Is The Way Scholarship?
Yes. Students who receive a Groveport Madison High School diploma are eligible for the Education Is The Way scholarship. Note: Applicants must apply within one year of high school graduation to be eligible, and must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. An applicant may participate in the program for a total of four years.
Do I have to apply for the Education Is The Way Scholarship every year?
Yes. Students must complete an application each year. In order to receive priority consideration, the application should be submitted by the "Priority Deadline" which is set each year. Applications submitted after this date will be awarded scholarship funds on a "funds available" basis only.
I don't have a copy of my college award letter. May I send a copy of my bill instead?
No. We must have a copy of your school's financial aid award that shows your award for the entire academic year OR our completed College Financial Information form before we are able to process your scholarship application.
My college emails our grades to us. May I print these grades and send them to you?
Yes. We will accept a copy of the emailed grades from our college recipients. High school senior GPA information will be submitted by the GMHS Guidance Office.
What do I need to do if I transfer to another school?
1. Contact the financial aid office at your school and notify them to: send a Financial Aid Transcript to your new school and cancel
future awards for you at that institution.
2. Contact Kathy Weiser (Executive Director, Education Is The Way) at 614-315-9425 or [email protected] to inform us of your plan to
enroll in a new institution.
3. Submit to Education Is The Way, a financial award letter from the post-secondary institution you will attend. This can be obtained
from the institution's financial aid office.
If I transfer to a new school, will my Education Is The Way scholarship automatically transfer to my new school?
No. Receipt of a scholarship for one institution does not guarantee that you will receive scholarship funds for another institution. (When a student changes institutions, their budget usually changes, and therefore, the award package may change as well.)
Am I able to use my Education Is The Way scholarship to pay for books and supplies?
Yes.
Will the Education Is The Way scholarship funds be sent to the school or to me?
All funds are sent directly to the post-secondary institution to be disbursed.
What materials do I need to submit to Education Is The Way to be considered for the scholarship?
1. The completed Education Is The Way scholarship application components (review the information under the "Application" tab)
2. For current college students, a copy of a transcript or online advising report that gives your current cumulative GPA at the time of
application (we will obtain transcripts for high school applicants)
